The Conch Bar Caves have developed naturally over millions of years, but their first recorded history was in the 1880s when guano (bat poop) was shipped from the Conch Bar Caves out of the Turks and Caicos. 

At this time, researchers discovered the remains of animals along with Indian artifacts, but sadly, they didn't preserve these findings. More recent digs at the nearby Indian Cave site have revealed skeletons of extinct animals, including a giant iguana, a tortoise found only in the Turks and Caicos, and several bird species, so we can safely assume that similar remains were found in the Conch Bar Caves.
