If you’re looking for adventure on your next holiday, the ATM Cave Excursion should be at the top of your list. This magnificent cave is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. Located in the Belizean jungle, the cave is home to a large number of Maya artifacts and is a popular spot for spelunking and cave exploration. During your tour of the ATM cave, you'll have the opportunity to see some of the most amazing rock formations in the world and learn about the history of the cave and the Maya people who once called it home.
This ATM cave in Belize is located on 455 acres of a nature reserve in the village of Teakettle. Once you arrive at the visitor’s entrance, you’ll get briefed and prepared for a 45-minute mostly flat hike to the cave with three river crossings along the way. On your hike, you’ll learn about the eye-catching flora and fauna you’ll see from your knowledgeable guide.
The real adventure begins once you’re at the mouth of the cave, starting with a swim across a small spring-fed pool into the dark underworld of the cave. Over the next three hours, you’ll traverse the extensive underground maze of tunnels climaxing in the ceremonial chamber housing stoneware, ceramics, and the famous “Crystal Maiden,” a crystallized skeleton.
